The Five Elements Concept helps to outline the myriad forms chi can take in the body and in the environment. Each individual "Element" suggests a state of being for chi - ultimately completing a continuum that encompases all manifestations, combinations and transformation of chi.

SHIATSU FAQ's

What will happen during my first Shiatsu treatment?

First, John will inquire about your goals for the session: What questions he asks can depend, for example, on whether you want to address a specific physical condition or to understand and resolve a feeling of energy imbalance or disharmony. Is your symptom new, recurring, seasonal or situation-related? As you discuss these questions John can make an assesment of you energetic condition, engaging you in the traditional Shiatsu Daignosis process of "Seeing, hearing, touching and (yes) smelling". Once all relevant medical and symptomatic history is complete you are ready for soothing, relaxing and healing.

Will it be painful?

Shiatsu addresses your body's chi through acupoints which can at times be very sensitive, but, pain is generally not relaxing and so is avoided during treatment. Where there is a "hurts-so-good" treatment aspect to you session, it will be introduced gradually and with constant feedback so that the pressure is correct for you.

What should I wear?

Preferably you should wear clothes that are loose, comfortable, and made from natural fabrics - cotton, silk, hemp fibre etc. - as these allow your skin to breathe. Cotton with a bit of Lycra for stretchability is also suitable. How many treatments will I need?

This will depend on your reasons for receiving Shiatsu. If you are in relatively good health and simply require an energy balancing or boost, one treatment followed up at your convenience should suffice. If you are trying to regain health from specifil illness or injury, then usually a longer course of treatments is recommended.

Can I learn to help myself between (and after) treatments?

Whenever appropriate, you will be encouraged to undertake proactive "reinforcing and supporting" work on your own. This could vary from light meridian stretches and exercises to practice of Chi Kung and Tai Chi to meditation, breathing and relaxation "homework". Frequently, your health goals can be reinforced and supported by feng shui tips for the home or workplace.

How much will a treatment cost and how long will it last?

Your first treatment will usually last for an hour and a half including the free initial consultation. Full treatments after that will usually last for seventy-five minutes, including a shortened initial question and answer session. Full treatments cost $80.00

Clients working on specific injuries or condiditons with repeating sessions can pay $60.00 per session if they take the recommended three session is a four-week period. Special cases may be discussed - no one with a serious will to heal will be turned away.

or Five Seasons progression in both Shiatsu and Feng Shui
As Yang defines Yin, the Five Elements define each other and the qualities of chi. The natural state of chi gives rise to movement, so we have progression through the Five Elements or Five Seasons.
