Sanctuary History - OR: How I became John Lake, Barefoot Doctor

How does small-town Illinois paperboy grow through a Pre-Law Bachelor's degree and presidential ambitions into becoming a consultant in Feng Shui and Shiatsu and a practitioner and teacher of tai chi, chi kung and meditation? Practice, practice, practice--and experience. Seriously, by approaching personal and social transformation and change in as many ways and from the many directions his life ultimately offered, John Lake finds himself today at peace and self-actuated as a "Barefoot Doctor" - supporting peace, change and self-cultivation one heart, one spirit, one place at a time. Now, by consulting in Feng Shui and Shiatsu; by encouraging personal strength and fearlessness with Tai Chi and Chi Kung; by practicing meditation and opening to guidance and spiritual transformation as presented in the work of contemporary and historical guides; by writing and teaching; John shares his own pearl-making insights and guidance.

Allowing the Calling's Journey
For some, life seems simple: overriding fear in their caterpillar-to-butterfly movement they respond to the mystery of personal calling and serve their world with beauty and grace.
For some, their gift forms like a pearl: Life's challenge is like the oyster's grain of sand -- layer upon layer of transformation work add up, irritation is eased, and a brilliant pearl results.
For me, John Lake, it's been a mix of both. Check out Tales from the Journey for reflections, insights, amusing stories from along my Way.
